Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, including:

• Account information: Your Apple ID email when you sign in with Apple. Sign-in is optional — the app works fully without an account.
• Recitation data: Session records including surah number, accuracy scores, and session duration.
• App usage data: Bookmarks, reading history, Hifz memorization progress, and daily reminders you create.
• Voice recordings: When you use the recitation practice feature, the microphone records your recitation. This audio is processed entirely on your device using a local AI model (Whisper). Your voice recordings are never uploaded to our servers or any third-party service.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to provide and improve the Itqan service, sync your progress across devices (when signed in), process subscription payments via RevenueCat and Apple, and send you practice reminders you have configured. We do not use your data for advertising and we do not sell it to third parties.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your account data is stored securely on servers located in the United States. We use industry-standard TLS encryption for all data in transit. Authentication tokens are stored in your device's secure storage (iOS Keychain). We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

Local data and backups: Quran text, preferences, and offline progress are stored locally on your device. You can export a backup of your bookmarks, favorites, and reading history as a JSON file from Settings → Backup & Restore. This file stays on your device and is never automatically shared or uploaded.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account. Upon confirmation, all your personal data — session history, bookmarks, Hifz progress, reminders, and your account record — is permanently and immediately deleted from our servers.

Voice recordings are never stored on our servers, so there is no remote audio data to delete. If you use the app without an account, all data lives only on your device and is removed when you uninstall the app.

5. Analytics

Itqan does not collect analytics or usage telemetry. We do not use any third-party analytics SDKs. No behavioral data or usage patterns are sent to external servers.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• RevenueCat — manages in-app subscriptions and purchase verification. RevenueCat receives your App Store transaction data and a pseudonymous user identifier. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
• Apple Sign In — optional authentication. Apple may share your email address (or a private relay address) with us. See Apple's Privacy Policy.

7. Children's Privacy

Itqan is rated 4+ and suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Account sign-in is optional and the app functions fully without one.
